The Shire of Kellerberrin maintains roadsides and/or reserves with a combination of slashing and selected herbicide sprays to control the growth of vegetation and weeds.
As part of the ongoing maintenance works, Council will spray, which will include footpaths, kerblines, public access ways, main open drains, rural roadside shoulders, drains and verges throughout the Shire each year. Spraying will be conducted under strict supervision and guidelines.
If you do not wish for chemicals to be used on your verge please inform Council and register your verge in the form below. We acknowledge that some residents do not wish to have areas adjacent to their property sprayed.
Aside from being a nuisance interfering with leisure time and outdoor activities, mosquitoes can be a serious pest and be carriers of disease. Many mosquito species in WA transmit disease-carrying viruses or parasites. Two of the most common mosquito-borne diseases in WA are Ross River Virus and Barmah Forest Virus. There is no cure for mosquito-borne diseases with the only way to prevent contracting a disease is to avoid being bitten.
The Shire of Kellerberrin regularly undertakes a Mosquito Spraying Program on Shire owned properties and assets around town and may undertake a fogging program (weather permitting). Public NOtice
