Rubbish Service – Mobile Wheelie Bins
Council’s rubbish removal service is provided under contract by Avon Waste. Collection day for all bins (Commercial and Domestic) is on Friday. Bins should be placed kerbside prior to 6:00am to ensure collection.
Do not leave your bin permanently by the kerb as the replacement of a stolen or damaged bin may be at your expense. The bin has a serial number stamped on the side of the bin and is recorded against your property address. Should you vacate the house, the bin should remain. Avon Waste will only collect the number of services allocated to each property.
If you require replacement or additional bins please complete a Bin Request Form to arrange delivery. Alternatively, please contact the Shire Office if you want to have unwanted bin(s) removed from your property.
Recyclable goods (cans, cardboard, paper glass and plastic) can be placed in the bins provided on Leake Street (Car Park adjacent to Centenary Park). Please FLATTEN cardboard boxes and ensure all items are empty/clean, and suitable for recycling. Bins will be emptied on a regular basis, however if you notice the bins are full please notify the Shire office, so collection can be arranged.
Waste Transfer Station
Situated 5km south of Kellerberrin on Inverarity Road, the transfer station is open weekly from Friday to Monday 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm with a supervisor in attendance at all times.
The transfer station will only accept household rubbish, green waste, private use engine oil or domestic items. Some building materials may be accepted with prior approval from the Manager of Works and Services (charges may apply). Effective 1st July 2018 the following Fees and Charges will apply at the Waste Transfer Station:
- $10.00 inc GST – Mattress Drop Off
- $30.00 inc GST – 6×4 trailer load of building materials – with the first trailer per annum being free of charge.
- $40.00 inc GST – 8×5 trailer load of building materials – with the first trailer per annum being free of charge.
- Commercial/Building materials requires pre-approval and is charged at a cost recovery rate plus 5% administration fee.
- All payments to be made in cash prior to disposal unless pre-approval from Council.
Townsite Verge Collection
Council previously had verge rubbish collections once per annum. However this service will no longer be offered due to increasing OH&S requirements placed on Council and the additional costs involved with all waste having to be transported to Northam.
