Animal Control

Registrations are due before October 31st.

Council’s Ranger Services are provided by WA Contract Ranger Services and will visit the region on a fortnightly basis, with possible¬†additional visits whenever necessary. Please contact the Shire Administration Office if you have any queries or complaints in relation to dogs or cats.


The Shire Administration Office will process all dog and cat registrations, microchip and sterilisation document will need to be provided for all new registrations.

Dogs over the age of three (3) months must be registered. All registrations require dogs to be microchipped.

Cats over the age of six (6) months must be registered. All registrations require cats to be sterilised and microchipped.

Registrations are due for renewal on 1st November of the applicable year and can be registered for either 1 year, 3 years or lifetime.  Concessions are applied for Pensioners and Working Dogs (evidence may be requested)

Responsible Ownership

Owners have an obligation to keep their animals under control at all times. Animals wandering at large will be impounded and can be collected after paying associated fees. Registered animals may be returned to their owner on one occasion without penalty.
