CBH Group Little Learners
Little Learners is for parents and children aged 0-4. It is a early development program initiated by the Kellerberrin School, Kellerberrin Playgroup and the Kellerberrin Community.
The Little Learners program runs on Tuesdays from 9am to 10:30am throughout the school terms. For any enquires contact: Tanya Cox on 9045 4586, Marilyn Lamplugh on 9045 4308.
The official opening of Kellerberrin's Little Learners Program was held at the Kellerberrin Childrens Centre on 9th August 2005. The celebratory cake in the shape of a brain was jointly cut by Margaret Collins, District Director of Education, Midlands District and Mick Cole, Community Development Officer for the Shire of Kellerberrin.
Little Learners is an innovative program is based on evidence that shows that learning in the early years must be based on quality, developmentally-attuned interactions with primary care givers and opportunities for play-based problem solving with others that stimulate brain development.
There is only a small 'window of opportunity' for many of the critical periods for optimal brain development. Contemporary research has shown that these periods are over or waning by the time a child is six years old.
The success of this program depends on support from the community and we would urge all parents with children in this age group to attend these learning sessions with their children. Not only is it educational but it is fun for both the parent and the child and allows them to have social interaction with other children of the same age.
