Waste Services
Rubbish Removal
The rubbish removal service is provided under contract by Avon Waste.
Rubbish is collected on Wednesdays.
Do not leave your bin permanently by the kerb as the replacement of a stolen or damaged bin may be at your expense.
The bin has a serial number stamped on the side, and this number is recorded against your property address. Should you vacate the house, the bin should remain.
A new bin will be provided at your new address within the area serviced by Avon Waste.
Any problems with the service or charges to the service, please contact the Shire Office.
Septic pump outs are carried out by Mr GH Williams. Phone (08) 9045 4052.
Waste Transfer Station
The transfer site has been designed for simplicity of operation. Ratepayers are required to separate their rubbish before dumping in the trailer.
Separate bunkers have been provided to take scrap metal, household furniture, whitegoods, recyclable material, aluminium cans, glass, batteries and oil. In addition to the bunkers there is also a separate area for green waste.
Safety is a prime consideration and all people using the transfer station are asked to keep children in the car at all times and observe all signage.
There is an area where you can back your trailer up to dump rubbish into a large trailer parked below, this has a 3m drop to the ground.
This domestic waste will be taken to the Tammin Landfill site where it will be composted.
Scavenging is not permitted at this site.
Benefits of this system are;
- Recycling of raw materials, steel, glass, plastics
- Composting of domestic waste
- Green waste composting
- Managed landfill practices
With your assistance ratepayers will benefit from the reduced operating costs.
This facility has been designed in conjunction with Waters and Rivers Commission, Department of Environment Protection, Ministry of Justice and Community Stakeholders.

Recycling
Glass, paper and aluminium cans can be recycled if they are collected and prepared in the right way.
There are three ways to dispose of your recyclable materials;
- The Kellerberrin Lions Club will pick up newspapers on the first Saturday of the month. Leave newspapers in bundles tied together on the road verge. Glossy magazines to be stacked separately.
- Recycling Bins have been installed in the Shire Depot for the deposit of aluminium cans and glass - green for coloured glass, yellow for clear glass, red for cans.
- Aluminium Cans - Contact Allan Morley (9045 4639) or Sonya Morley (9045 4673).
Proceeds to various Kellerberrin Organisations and Clubs.
Tips for better recycling:
- Remove caps and lids
- Rinse out containers
- Avoid breakages (whole bottles are easier and safer to handle)
- Use your local drop off point
